Added Delicious Daily Post Link…

Well hopefully you will now see an automatic daily del.icio.us post, showing all the links I have made to my social bookmarks. Will try it for a while to see if it is any use. Of course you can go to the feeds page to see these. I am kind of enjoying all these interlinking feeds, and have started adding and messing with them in my students blog and also in moodle. Bitty Browser has come in very handy for Moodle enabling me to webpages inside of Moodle, which will hopefully eliminate the need for students to browse away from Moodle as much, and so make the environment a more integrated one even thought hey are using exterior Web 2.0 resources and collaborative tools.

Not getting very far ..fast!!!!!

Well have managed to finish my content map, sorry will upload it again at another time. And am reasonably satisifed with the the layout and variety of the course and aspirations for constructivist learning, communities of practice and hopefully the world of connectivism….so many big educational words but hopefully they will mostly mean a better educational experience for my AS students. I am worried I will not be able to get any actual testing with the students began before evaluation, especially as it is meant to be a 6 unit course taken over a summer holidays?

I am now trying to concentrate on making Moodle them well, so that the site becomes an integrated whole and linsk with the blog I use for the students. I am surprised in one way at the flexibility of moodle and absolutely love ‘the community of practice’ – yes one that works that helps at every corner. However trying to them Moodle so that it is functional but different is tricky…..keep on watching what happens over at ConstructICTism Moodle.

Mindmap of content and pedagogy….

Well been working hard on this, my content mindmap. Click on the link to have a look at it on a webpage, beware its very large. It still is a work in progress but I probably need to start preparing the graphics and logos to alter the themes for Moodle very soon, and then start manipulating and producing the basic course outline. Still have not decided if I need a link webpage /resource to enter into the main Moodle site. I am including my blog as part of the WBLE as it is something I already use with students and should form part of an overall set of Learning Environments. Checked the discussions of the other group from Tuesdays group chats and was interested to hear what kept a student or user at your site. I think more than anything it depends on your user group and what the function of the environment is. For example if it is for casual visitors that then may mearn at your site, this would be very different from a site developed specifically for a group of students from a school to be part of a blended learning system? Liked Dan’s site though and for those struggling with the idea of coding their own site, it shows how good these website generators are!

It seems I passed the first Module EDUC5252…

Hurray…scraped throught the first module I believe, as my father sent me a scanned mark sheet from Aisha….mainly complaining about the length of my first assignment…gulp…7000 words wasn’t too much was it??? 🙂

Hope everyone else passed and is celebrating tonight…..Congratulations.

Calling all MA ICT in Education Blogs…

Well I thought that I had better call out to anyone who has created a blog to show the progress of their design for their WIBBLY. Especially as Karen seemed to place the honour(cough!) of some kind of organisation on myself. If you post it into the conference in firstclass, or add it as a comment to this post then I can post them as links in the rss feeds section of my blog, and can put them all into a bloglines account that I can share with you so you can see everytime someone updates their blog from one place. You can see my Bloglines account by going to http://www.bloglines.com/public/drtech

Just click on the MA Group and you can see mine and Wills Blogs and postings there….

SBD’s go go go…..

Well here is the first draft of my scenarios, I decided to choose real students that might participate in the course and have written it as much as possible from my knowledge of how they learn within the subject of ICT. I have chosen to write four different scenarios to try and see from four different students perspectives. I would eventually have to look at writing from other stakeholders perspectives aswell. The scenarios took on an almost exagerated caricature type quality, which I found hard to stop. I have also found it very difficult to write the scenarios without being biased by what software / tools that I think I might be going to use. And this is why these are definitely a first draft look at the problem…..especially as it has made me search for more tools that might be of better use to my clients /students.

I have attached the scenarios as .pdf so feel free to download and have a look.

FirstClass server problems….

Well that was fun did we all feel panic at not being able to login to First Class the other night. The pleasures of firewalls and distance learning? Well it gave me time to setup a few more things on this blog. Note there is now a link to my Moodle setup(Bottom right) , which at the moment is no more than Moodle being installed and me messing around with a few things. There is also a link to my Del.icio.us tags (Bottom right) if you are enjoying the RSS feeds page….

Blog-jects and more….

Well my tutor keeps on telling me to read, so I’ve been devouring a few articles recently and transcripts from presentations that I have found incredibly interesting from Bruce Sterling, Julian Bleecker and George Siemens. You will find all the links currently in my delicious feed, click on the RSS feed link above. Otherwise click on more and you can get the links in the extended post. I hope to be able to include some of their ideas practically in my WIBBLY. Have a read the articles are at least food for thought.

Here are the links:-

Planning the GANT Chart and thoughts…

Well finally my GANT chart is complete, and it has helped with some of the development of my ideas but above all to make sure I realise I only have six weeks to go. Already with the planning it is difficult to link the pedagogy with the practical outcome. Often the practicality of playing with the environment of Moodle that I have chosen or just simply the skills I possess within Dreamweaver are stopping me short of the outcomes I hope I can produce. Hopefully as I am drawing up my scenarios I can begin to clarify a little more what I will need to work on.

EFF, bloggers rights…

Well before I get onto some real work, I want to mention the Electronic Frontier Foundation that defends bloggers rights. At the moment, in various parts of the Middle East and beyond, many public blogs are being blocked for just one story check here at BoingBoing. And these blogs can some time mean much more than just writing up my progress on my Masters course as I’m doing now. So make sure your blog supports and shows the EFF badge…

I’ve already aged 20 years….

…from all the work I am doing on this M.A. 🙂 But finally my blog will hopefully begin to contain all my planning and problem solving related to the design of my ‘WIBBLY’ environment. But it has taken me over two days to master this WordPress theme, and then I still continue to mess…stop Alan STOP. Hopefully over the next day or so I will post my work up to date, which should involve a Gant Chart, my scenarios and hopefully an outline plan for the next six weeks.

By the way if you want to age yourself check out this website that makes it easy ‘Face Transformer’, my girlfriend can’t believe how realistic it looks as the transformed photo looks so like my dad :)~

Welcome to my M.A. blog..

Its a little late but after William’s grand effort I though I had better catch up…watch this space soon to see my progress.
